Full bar & cold taps
Local and craft beer on tap, a deep well of whiskey, and cocktails poured with a heavy hand. Always cold, never fussy.
Los Alamos, California · In an 1882 Depot
Cold drinks, a loaded jukebox, and the last light on in downtown Los Alamos. The Depot Bar pours good times out of a 140-year-old railroad depot — full bar, weekly karaoke, billiards, and a bonfire out back. Open Wednesday through Monday.
Pull up a stool
The building's been here since 1882 — first a Pacific Coast Railway depot, later a rambling antique mall. The bar came much later: a wine-and-beer counter tucked in back in 2015, then the whole south end reborn as The Depot Bar in 2019. These days it's a proper cowboy bar — a 40-foot live-edge slab, cold taps, stiff pours, and a crowd of locals and travelers who all end up feeling like regulars. We're the last place in town still pouring when everyone else has called it a night.

The good stuff
A full bar, a stage, a pool table, and a fire out back. Come as you are.
Local and craft beer on tap, a deep well of whiskey, and cocktails poured with a heavy hand. Always cold, never fussy.
The best night in town. Grab the mic, round up your crew, and belt one out — the whole room's on your side.
A jukebox loaded with the good stuff, the odd unplugged set, and a room that always seems to find a tune. There's a rhythm to the place.
Rack 'em up on the red felt, or settle in with cards and parlour games. Winner stays on.
String lights, open sky, and a fire to gather around. The back patio is where the night stretches out.
Bar bites to keep the night going, plus rotating food trucks and vendors slinging tacos and late-night eats out back.

A little history
Our building opened in 1882 as a stop on the Pacific Coast Railway — the narrow-gauge line that once linked San Luis Obispo and Los Olivos. The trains stopped calling in 1940, and over the decades the old depot became a sprawling antique mall with three long corridors.
The bar came a whole lot later. In 2015, a little wine-and-beer counter was tucked into the back of the antique store. In 2019, the entire south end of the building was reborn as The Depot Bar — the full bar you'll find today.
The rest of the old depot is still finding new life: the north end lives on as the Depot Trading Post antique shop, and the middle — quiet for now — is set to become the Los Alamos Theater for live plays and productions, with movie nights on the off days.
Word around town
"Karaoke rocks on Thursday night! So much fun! The bartenders are wonderful! We are treated like family and I would not want to spend my Thursday nights anywhere else!"
— Deborah
"We ended up at the Depot Bar after walking out of another spot! We sat down to the other restaurant in Los Alamos, got a good look at the overpriced, heavily worded menu, and walked out. We sat at Depot Bar, and the hits just kept coming!"
— Jess
"I really wanted this to be an antique shop, but it's a straight up cowboy bar."
— Sweet P
The event venue in Los Alamos
Wedding after-parties, welcome parties, birthdays, bachelor & bachelorette nights, memorials, biker rallies, fundraisers and reunions — The Depot is the only late-night, full-bar buyout venue in Los Alamos, and one of the most charming on the Central Coast. We handle staffing, games and food vendors; larger private gatherings by arrangement.
